pfft. I love being salary.

So it looks like the whole 40 hour week for this week isn't going to happen. I am sitting here at the front desk of my office while the slowest workers in the world proceed to adjust the cubes in my office. The office is raising the walls of the cubes by 6 inches. Apparently this is going to reduce the amount of audible and visual distractions. I really haven't been here that long, as I got back into the office about thirty minutes ago. The crazy thing is that these guys actually started this around 12:30 pm this afternoon. It is now 5:15 pm and they are still working on it. At the rate that they are going, I seriously don't know when I'll be able to get out of the office. On top of this, I have to wait and resetup about 15 workstations, because they had to be removed from the cubes before the work could be done. It is actually too bad, given that I actually had something to do with my friends tonight, and the way that it is looking. I will be lucky to get out of here with three digits still on the clock. So why is this all a big deal to me? As the title of this post says albeit sarcastically, I love being a salaried employee. Why you ask? Well it does not matter how long I work today, I will not get anything out of it. Well anything financially helpful. Everyone always says, oh don't worry, you can't just leave early a couple days here and there. Ahh, but therein lies the difficulty. I can not even take a personal time off day without having people calling me on my work cell with problems. It is the seat-button theory. The theory that if I am not at my desk, it sends out an alarm to all employees telling them that now is the time to break things and have problems. All because Scott is not at his desk, or in the office at that point. Well I'm going to continue sitting here.
